Facial measurements, explained
LooksMeter measures a handful of facial angles and ratios from your photo, on your device, from detected landmarks. Here is what each one means and the range people commonly cite - so your report can just show the numbers.
One honest caveat up front: these are angles and ratios, never millimeters. A single 2D photo has no scale reference, so any tool quoting real-world distances is guessing. The ranges below are commonly cited reference points, not medical standards or a verdict on anyone's face.
Canthal tilt
Angle of the eye's inner-to-outer corner line. Positive (upward) tilt is commonly cited around +2° to +8°; slightly negative is well within normal variation.
Facial width-to-height
Bizygomatic width over mid-brow-to-upper-lip height. Typical adult values cluster around 1.8-2.1; research on what it signals is famously mixed.
Midface ratio
Interpupillary distance over pupil-to-upper-lip height. The looksmax-community reference point is ~1.0; a compact midface reads slightly above it.
Lower third
Nose-base-to-chin as a share of visible face height. Classical thirds put this near 33%; the mesh approximates the hairline, so treat ±3% as noise.
Chin-to-philtrum
Lower-lip-to-chin distance over philtrum length. Commonly cited around 2.0-2.5x; a long philtrum pulls it below that band.
Eye aspect ratio
Eye width over eye height, both eyes averaged. Almond-shaped eyes typically read near 3.0x or higher; rounder eyes sit lower.
