What Season Am I?

Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter—and which of the 12 sub-seasons. Here's how undertone, depth, and contrast map you to the palette that makes everything look right.

The three dimensions that determine your season

Color season analysis reads three physical characteristics to map you to one of four (or twelve, in the extended system) seasons:

Undertone (Warm/Cool/Neutral)

The dominant color temperature in your skin. Warm undertones have yellow, peach, or golden hues; cool undertones have pink, red, or blue hues. Undertone determines whether you're a Spring/Autumn (warm) or Summer/Winter (cool).

Depth (Light to Deep)

How light or dark your overall coloring is, combining skin, hair, and eye depth. Light depth = Spring or Summer; deep depth = Autumn or Winter.

Contrast & Clarity

The difference between your lightest and darkest features. High contrast (dark hair, light skin) + cool = True Winter. Low contrast, muted coloring = Soft Summer or Soft Autumn. Clear, bright coloring = True Spring or Bright Winter.

Quick self-test

In natural daylight with no makeup: 1) What are your hair and eye colors? 2) Check your inner wrist for vein color. 3) Try on a white shirt vs a cream/ivory shirt—which makes your face look better? White suits cool; cream suits warm. 4) Try silver jewelry vs gold. This gives you undertone. Then assess how light or deep your overall coloring is, and whether it's bright/clear or soft/muted.

Frequently asked

How do I know what color season I am?

Color season is determined by three dimensions: undertone (warm/cool/neutral), depth (light/medium/deep), and contrast (the difference between your hair, skin, and eye colors). Warm + light = Spring; cool + light = Summer; warm + deep = Autumn; cool + deep = Winter. The 12-season system adds muted/clear as a fourth dimension.

How do I find my undertone?

Check your inner wrist veins in natural light. Blue or purple veins suggest cool undertone; green veins suggest warm. If you can't tell, you're likely neutral. The silver/gold jewelry test also works: if gold looks better on your skin, warm; if silver, cool.

What is the difference between Spring and Autumn?

Both are warm seasons, but Spring tends toward light, clear, and bright (peach, coral, light warm greens), while Autumn leans deeper, muted, and earthy (rust, olive, burnt orange, mustard). Springs often have light hair and eyes; Autumns tend toward deeper hair and earthier coloring.

Can I be more than one color season?

You belong to one season in the 12-season system, but you may sit near a 'border' and look good in colors from an adjacent season. Someone who is Light Spring may also suit some Soft Summer colors. The analysis gives you a primary season and usually indicates which neighboring seasons overlap.
