FAQ
Why does my face look weird or asymmetrical when inverted in a True Mirror?
Because of the mere-exposure effect. Every bathroom mirror and front-facing camera preview flips your face horizontally, so your brain has calibrated to your mirrored asymmetries over thousands of hours. When a True Mirror shows your un-mirrored face (how other people actually see you), every slight 1-2 mm tilt becomes doubled relative to what your brain expects - even though other people never notice it because your un-mirrored face is the only version they have ever known.
Which view is how other people see me in real life?
In Live Webcam mode, 'True View (How Others See You)' is un-mirrored - when you raise your right hand, it appears on the left side of the screen, exactly as someone standing across from you sees you. For uploaded photos, front-camera selfies saved by iOS Photos are usually already un-mirrored when saved, while Snapchat/Instagram or bathroom mirror selfies are mirrored. Use the A/B Flip Toggle to compare both orientations instantly.
How does the on-device bilateral symmetry measurement work?
When you upload a photo or capture a frame from the live webcam, MediaPipe's 478-point FaceLandmarker roll-corrects your face along the pupil line so head tilt does not fake asymmetry, then measures left-vs-right canthal tilt difference, vertical eye alignment offset, brow arch height delta, oral commissure tilt, and hemiface jaw balance.
Is my webcam feed or photo uploaded anywhere?
Never. Both the live webcam stream and the 478-landmark symmetry scan run 100% locally inside your browser.
